Activating and Retaining Knowledge: What’s Sticking?

OLD LYME, CT — SEPTEMBER 23, 2017 — In August The France Foundation, in collaboration with Cedars-Sinai, ArcheMedX and Medpage Today, launched a series of online learning programs for rheumatologists and other rheumatology health care professionals who care for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. This initiative aims to provide context for the appropriate, evidence-based use of therapies to target specific treatment goals, and improve patient communication strategies. The series nudges learners to reflect and take action, including such techniques as: taking notes synchronized to the content; searching a resource library; viewing and responding to faculty "nudges" in the form of Educator Notes, Multimedia Polls, and Reflective Prompts that are scheduled to appear at relevant moments within the content.

This transformational approach to online learning drives clinicians to consume educational content more efficiently and ensures that critical information can be fully integrated into a learner’s long-term memory before it is forgotten or overwritten.
