The Expert Faculty Summary is a brief CME activity that delivers a review of the current pneumococcal disease burden, the changing epidemiology of pneumococcal disease, pneumococcal vaccines for adults, and strategies for improving vaccination rates.

Clinical Pearls
The Clinical Pearls feature selected PowerPoint® slides (with speaker notes) that cover topics such as recent data from the Active Bacterial Core Surveillance system on invasive pneumococcal disease, changes in invasive pneumococcal disease between 1998 and 2007, trends in S. pneumoniae serotypes, efficacy of pneumococcal vaccination in adults, the association of S. pneumoniae with fatal influenza infections, and strategies for improving immunization rates.

Rapid Recap
The Rapid Recap provides a concise summary of take-home messages about pneumococcal disease burden, risk factors for invasive pneumococcal disease, and recommendations for pneumococcal vaccination. This is a non-accredited educational activity.
