Targeted Therapies for Breast Cancer and Practical Patient Management Strategies

Needs Statement/Intended Audience

This activity is intended to provide oncologists and other health care professionals with the latest information on targeted therapies for breast cancer and practical patient management strategies.

Educational Activity Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participants should be able to:

  • Explain the molecular basis of targeted therapies for breast cancer
  • Identify the characteristics of the patients most likely to benefit from each type of therapy
  • Consider expert opinion and ongoing clinical trial results when making targeted therapeutic decisions for breast cancer management
  • Discuss the potential side effects of each type of therapy
  • Develop an individualized management plan for each breast cancer patient based on the clinical, biologic, and molecular characteristics of their tumor
Credit Statement

Physicians. The France Foundation designates each Peer-to-Peer Dialogue for a maximum of 0.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, the e-Monograph for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, and the Interactive Case for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacists. The France Foundation will award CEUs to pharmacists who complete each activity, complete the registration and evaluation forms, and successfully pass a posttest (>70%).

Nurses. Nurses who are certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) may utilize activities that are certified by ACCME accredited providers toward their requirement for certification renewal by the ANCC. A certificate of attendance will be provided by The France Foundation, an ACCME accredited provider.
