THE FRANCE FOUNDATION PRESENTING AT THE ALLIANCE FOR CME 35th ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT CME
Old Lyme, CT – The France Foundation, a recognized leader in accredited continuing medical education, announces presentation of a breakout session at The Alliance for CME 35th Annual Conference. The session entitled A Different Viewpoint on Performance Improvement CME: Systems vs. Individual Impact will outline examples of national quality improvement sources and a case highlighting the integration of CME and performance improvement activities.
In the IOM’s A Bridge to Quality report, a core competency area for clinicians was to be able to possess the ability to apply quality improvement approaches into their patient care. Many organizations have published quality performance measures and the recent emphasis of CME in this area can be seen with the AMA’s PI CME and the ACCME’s new criteria for accreditation. Yet despite these well defined performance measures, there is still a need to improve and
better integrate the utilization of CME activities into existing quality improvement initiatives to help achieve improvements in patient care. The presenters of this session will apply discussion of principles of performance improvement CME to a case-based example in appropriate use of therapies to prevent hospital venous thromboembolism (VTE) events within a hospital setting. Other national quality improvement and performance sources will be identified with discussion on how to utilize quality standards in implementing CME activities and measuring educational outcomes.
Friday January 29th 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Grand Salon C/1st New Orleans, LA
