OLD LYME, CT — JUNE 2, 2015 —The first biosimilar was approved in the US in March, and there are many more approvals anticipated. The introduction of biosimilars into the US market is expected to expand patient access to biologic therapies and reduce health care costs.

This spring, The France Foundation launched a comprehensive website supported by an educational grant from Hosipira that offers continuing education opportunities and additional resources to help clinicians improve their knowledge and competence in the use of biosimilars across multiple therapeutic areas. In the development of BiosimilarsCME.org, The France Foundation recognized the importance of building a newsfeed featuring relevant, up-to-date information in this area. The ability to explore and search by specialty is another key element of the website design, allowing clinicians to focus specifically on their area(s) of interest. Other website capabilities include a “useful links” section featuring important online information pertaining to the biosimilars arena, and a biosimilars survey gauging learner knowledge and capturing important data on learning needs that will inform additional educational efforts.
