Joining Forces With the International Cardio-Oncology Society and the Amyloidosis Foundation to Help Primary Care Providers Recognize Potential Amyloidosis

It goes without saying that improving patient outcomes is best achieved through collaboration with an expert team. To this end, The France Foundation is proud to work alongside both the International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS) and the Amyloidosis Foundation to provide education on identifying and referring patients with suspected amyloidosis.

Amyloidosis encompasses a group of disorders that come in several different forms with varying degrees of rarity, making them a challenge to identify. These disorders can progress rapidly and have lethal consequences for patients who go undiagnosed for too long. Primary care professionals play an essential role in recognizing amyloidosis and referring patients to specialists.

Together, TFF, IC-OS, and the Amyloidosis Foundation have developed an interactive learning opportunity for physicians, nurses, and physician associates in primary care, family medicine, and internal medicine: “Seeing the Forest for the Trees: Recognizing Potential Amyloidosis.”

In this module, expert faculty describe the symptomatology characteristics of amyloidosis and provide guidance on explaining the referral process to patients. Identifying patients to refer to a specialist can be challenging. However, to overcome this obstacle, learners will discover not only how to advocate for their patients with suspected amyloidosis, but also help their patients advocate for themselves too.

We are proud to educate healthcare providers about these rare disorders by offering the latest information available on recognizing potential amyloidosis in their patients.
