David A. Bushinsky, MD, is Professor of Medicine and of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He is Chief of the Nephrology Division at Strong Memorial Hospital and Associate Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Bushinsky received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He also completed an internship, residency, fellowship in clinical nephrology, and a research fellowship in nephrology at Tufts New England Medical Center Hospital.

Dr. Bushinsky has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and 60 invited reviews, chapters, and editorials focusing on disorders of divalent ion metabolism. His work has been funded consistently by grants from the National Institutes of Health for more than 2 decades for the study of the effects of acid on bone and for the study of genetic hypercalciuria and kidney stone formation. Dr. Bushinsky has lectured throughout the world on disorders of calcium metabolism.

Dr. Bushinsky is a member of the Association of American Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He is also a member of the American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, American Federation for Clinical Research, Midwest Salt and Water Club, American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, Central Society for Clinical Research, The American Physiological Society, and the Associations of Subspecialty Professors.
